The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has announced the winners of the 2016 South Australian Landscape Architecture Awards.
The awards recognize the powerful contribution landscape architecture projects make to enhancing South Australia’s liveability, economic development and global profile.
Awards were received by projects that promoted transformational design and green infrastructure excellence to politically challenging projects of scale and complexity. AILA presented 16 awards across seven categories, showcasing landscape architecture’s ability to work across all scales and contexts and create innovative, diverse natural environments.
The jury noted the winning projects’ use of community engagement. “A key aspect in the success of the awarded projects is the facilitation of engagement, with community taking an active role in the shaping of public spaces,” the jury said.
Projects that received an award of excellence or award at state level will now proceed through to the national awards, to take place in the second half of the year. One project will then be awarded the best landscape architecture project in the country.
