Hassell designs first hotel for Sydney Aerotropolis

Hassell has designed a $70 million, 200-room hotel that will become the first in the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

Featuring an all-day dining restaurant, a cafe and bar, fitness centre and 580 square metres of meeting and ballroom space, the future hotel will help secure the potential of the burgeoning Sydney city.

The international hotel brand Marriott signed an agreement with a developer to open the Courtyard by Marriott Western Sydney Airport after what was a competitive operator selection process.

The Western Sydney Aerotropolis is a multi-billion-dollar development earmarked to become the third city in Sydney’s metropolis. Corresponding with the development of a commonwealth-funded airport and the Sydney Metro, the Aerotropolis is set to become the “beating heart” of the western parkland city, according to the NSW government.

The opening of the hotel is slated for 2026 to coincide with the opening of Western Sydney International Airport.
