Edwards Moore

Edwards Moore won the Emerging Interior Design Practice award in the 2011 Australian Interior Design Awards.

Design statement

Ben Edwards and Juliet Moore founded their design practice two years ago, combining dynamically into one creative vision with shared values and outlook. Ben Edwards trained in the UK, working in London for a number of years before relocating to Melbourne to work at Lab and Sir Nicholas Grimshaw Architects. He has a passion for the art of making things and the conceptual rigour that underpins it. Prior to Edwards Moore, Juliet Moore was a director at 1:1 Architects, a successful Melbourne architecture office. She had also worked at offices such as Col Bandy Architecture, BVN Architecture, Daryl Jackson Architects and DesignInc. Edwards Moore is a studio that promotes collaboration to achieve a high degree of support for its designs, encouraging new insights that can lead to innovation. Paring back the brief to see past the conspicuous, the studio seeks to provide inspirational spaces and a connection to nature and the individual. Driven by curiosity and exploration yet bearing in mind budgetary constraints, Edwards Moore works with the client to achieve crafted, considered and provocative results.

Jury comment

This emerging practice is committed to a level of experimentation in its work that has the potential to challenge existing practice. A diversity of skills is evident in the range of project types – from installation to residential. The work is fresh and underpinned by a rigour that enables outstanding conceptual creativity as well as quality execution.
