Stanisic: Live/Work by Anna Johnson.

The concept of collective housing is explored in this publication, through the work of Sydney architecture firm Stanisic Associates. The model, which is based on the idea of cooperative living and mutual aid, reveals a commitment to the implementation of a sustainable urban lifestyle.

Featured collective housing projects in Sydney include Spectrum in Alexandria, which contains fifty one-to-four-bedroom apartments, and Era in Kings Cross, a “low-energy passive environment” that includes offices, shops and a communal courtyard. Mission in Haymarket is a 108-metre-high mixed-use tower, one of the largest projects undertaken by the firm. Live/Work is a fascinating study of such projects and includes a range of photographs and drawings.
