The shortlist for the 20th annual Australian Interior Design Awards includes 23 projects in the Residential Decoration category.
“Residential Decoration is a truly impressive category, featuring immaculate art and object curation and integration,” said juror Stuart Krelle. “Some projects are quite transportive and really emotive. The art collections display how clients are valuing this component of their space to provide layering, but to also tell a story about them.”
Juror Maria Danos noted the use of bold colours and texture and greater prevalance of Australian artists and furniture makes. “What’s driving these developments?” she wonder. “Possibly greater visibility and access through social media and growing client expectations for ‘total’ service.”
