The Dulux Colour Forecast 2020, themed “essence,” is inspired by the wellness movement and translate to a more tonal, muted range of colours with a natural feel, with selected striking accents and saturated hues.
The four palettes under the theme are underpinned by a focus on authenticity and transparency.
Grounded is predominently a brown based palette with soft neutrals. In times of uncertain consumer sentiment, brown is often seen as a colour of strength. The neutral palette creates a sense of lightness, calmness and relaxation.
Cultivate is botanically inspired with calming shades of green and highlight colours from the natural world. It complements materials such as coloured glass, resins and a restrained Japanese aesthetic.
Indulge emphasizes warmth and luxury with a suite of hues that promote escapism with immersive, romantic interiors. This red-toned palette includes earthy tans and corals which will complement lush fabrics on voluptuous forms and soft drapery.
Lastly Comeback is inspired by the Bauhaus movement, which marks its centenary in 2019. Blues and teals and contrasting colours of reds and deep yellows express the eclectic and graphic boldness of the Bauhaus.
