Cristina Garduño Freeman

Dr Cristina Garduño Freeman is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Australian Centre for Architectural History Urban and Cultural Heritage at The University of Melbourne. Her research is situated within the fields of heritage, architecture and digital media. She has just published her first book titled, Participatory Culture and the Social Value of an Architectural Icon: Sydney Opera House, (Routledge). Currently, she is researching the digital encounters, artefacts and re-use value of World Heritage sites of Modern Architecture using Google, experimental preservation and new digital technologies. In 2014, she received the International Visual Sociology Association Rieger Award for an Outstanding Doctoral Thesis. Before entering academia, she practised professionally in architecture, landscape architecture and urban design, and in visual communication design.
